PENGEMBANGAN MEDIA AJAR EDUKATIF BERBASIS KARAKTER HEWAN SEBAGAI INOVASI PEMBELAJARAN PENGELOLAAN SAMPAH UNTUK SISWA SEKOLAH DASAR

This community service activity was carried out at SDN Mekar Mukti 02 with the aim of increasing students' awareness of the importance of waste management and environmental preservation from an early age. Education was delivered through interactive counseling and short video screenings on the environmental impact of waste. As a result, students showed high enthusiasm and began to understand the importance of sorting waste by type. In this activity, trash bins were created independently by the implementation team without involving students, using recycled materials such as used paint buckets and plastic gallons. Each bin was painted with an animal symbol representing waste types: a crow for metal waste, a squirrel for organic waste, and a rat for inorganic waste. Evaluation was conducted through direct observation, which showed positive behavioral changes in students regarding waste disposal. This activity demonstrates that an educational approach combined with visual media can be an effective means of fostering environmental awareness in elementary schools.
