The period of waiting for work or unemployment not only has an impact on the economy, but also causes serious psychological stress, especially for young adults. This situation puts bachelor's degree graduates at risk of experiencing mental health problems such as stress, anxiety, and depression. This research aims to describe the mental health profile of bachelor's degree graduates during their waiting period for employment in early adulthood in Jambi City. This research uses a descriptive quantitative study using the Mental Health Inventory (MHI-38) research instrument, modified with 8 open-ended questions. Data collection was conducted using a survey method, resulting in 211 respondents for descriptive statistical analysis. Based on the descriptive analysis, the average mental health score was 38.53, indicating that most respondents had a very low level of mental health. A total of 77.73% of respondents were categorized as very low, 11.37% as low, and 10.90% as moderate. None of the respondents were classified as high or very high. Demographically, the majority of respondents were aged 24–25 years, female, and had a job-waiting period of more than six months. The most influential indicators contributing to the low level of mental health were anxiety, depression, and difficulties in emotional regulation. The mental health of bachelor's degree graduates who are in the waiting period for work in early adulthood in the city of Jambi is classified as very low. These results indicate that the job waiting period is a critical phase that requires psychological and social support, as well as policy strategies to improve the mental well-being of bachelor's degree graduates. Appropriate psychological interventions are also needed to improve individual mental health.
