Luka Psikologis Tokoh Bendung dalam Novel Boy Candra Kajian Psikoanalisis Sigmund Freud

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the psychological wounds of the character Bendung in Boy Candra's novel Bu, Tidak Ada Teman Menangis Malam Ini (Mom, There's No One Crying Tonight). It uses a literary psychology approach based on Sigmund Freud's psychoanalysis theory. This study uses a descriptive qualitative method based on literature study with primary data in the form of novel texts and secondary data covering literary psychology literature, psychoanalytic theory, and relevant research. The findings show that the character Bendung experiences psychological trauma due to the loss of his mother, who served as his emotional support. This psychological wound gives rise to feelings of loneliness, guilt, regret, and fear of new emotional relationships. Internal conflicts between the id, ego, and superego result in defense mechanisms such as repression, denial, projection, and sublimation. The impact is evident in emotional instability, social withdrawal, fear of failure, and a pessimistic mindset towards life. However, the plot development shows that Bendung slowly undergoes a process of emotional recovery through self-acceptance and the courage to face life changes. Thus, this novel presents deep psychological dynamics that describe the relationship between trauma, personality crisis, and the formation of resilience.
