Abstract

This study explores the role of persons with disabilities in proclaiming the Gospel through theological, historical, and practical lenses, grounded in John 4:35. While historically marginalized, persons with disabilities are increasingly recognized in contemporary theology as vital members of the body of Christ. The study affirms that every individual, regardless of physical or mental condition, possesses equal dignity and calling in church ministry. Employing a literature review and supported by statistical data, the article demonstrates that inclusivity is not merely a moral ideal but a theological imperative. Insights from theologians such as Nancy Eiesland, Amos Yong, and John Swinton strengthen the argument that persons with disabilities are not passive recipients of charity but active agents in the mission of the Church. Case studies from several Indonesian churches highlight practical expressions of inclusivity in liturgy, education, and leadership. The article concludes that the Church must move beyond accommodation to empowerment—creating a community that truly embodies the love and justice of Christ by integrating persons with disabilities as co-laborers in the field of God’s mission.
