Theology in the Age of TikTok: Menjembatani Postmodernisme dan Generasi Z

The rapid growth of TikTok has reshaped how Generation Z engages with spirituality, presenting new challenges and opportunities for the Church. Generation Z, living in a postmodern era, often rejects grand narratives and prioritizes personalized, inclusive, and experiential spirituality. This study addresses the problem of how TikTok can be leveraged as a relevant digital theology medium to engage Generation Z while navigating cultural relativism and traditional dogma. The research adopts a literature review approach, analyzing studies on postmodernism, digital theology, and Generation Z characteristics, alongside TikTok trends like #ChristianTikTok and #Faith. Data reveals that 29.11% of TikTok users engage with spiritual content, with a significant correlation between TikTok engagement and deeper spiritual reflection (t-stat 11.878 > t-table 2.086). This study concludes that TikTok is a strategic tool for delivering theological messages in relevant and creative ways, utilizing personalized algorithms and visual narratives. The Church must embrace innovative approaches, including digital training for leaders and integrating music and visual symbols, to remain relevant in the digital era. TikTok offers a unique space for building inclusive spiritual communities, bridging the gap between theological traditions and digital culture.
